You guys – I LOVE The Amazing Race. In fact, I added that on my list of things to do before I die aka The Bucket List. So, I get all giddy when a new season comes on. Well, looks like the newest season has come to a screeching halt because The ‘Amazing Race’ Has Stopped Production Over Concerns of The Coronavirus and That Makes Me Sad.
Don’t get me wrong – I totally get why CBS had to pause production but it doesn’t change the fact that it totally sucks.
CBS said in a statement on Friday that it has taken “the precautionary measure of temporarily suspending production” on the upcoming new season of the reality competition series due to “increased concerns and uncertainty regarding the coronavirus.”
“All contestants and production staff are in the process of returning home,” a CBS spokesman said in a statement to CNN. “At this time, no Racers or anyone on the production team traveling with them have contracted the virus, or shown symptoms, and we are not aware of anyone being exposed to it. Out of an abundance of caution, everyone involved in the show will continue to be monitored when they return home. The health and well-being of the Racers and the production team are our top priorities.”
The show was currently filming it’s 33rd season and was 3 episodes in to filming when they made this decision to stop production for now. The competitors were in Scotland when they were sent to return home.
I sure hope it’s sooner rather than later because I need more Amazing Race in my life!
